We were thrilled to co-host Yvette Stevens with the Africa Business Club (ABC) and Imperial College Women in Business (ICWB). The night started with an introduction from Dean Francisco Veloso.
Dean Veloso stressed the importance of this year's International Women's Day theme, "Choose To Challenge." Next, Yvette kindly shared her experiences from starting her engineering degree at Imperial, to getting her masters, having children, moving to Sierra Leone, and finally ending up at the UN in Geneva. Yvette shared her struggles with raising children and having a career, as well as her triumphs with affecting change and inspiring young women to pursue maths and sciences. The event ended with questions from the audience, including statements from two of Yvette's daughters. Thank you to all who came and participated!
We are overwhelmed by the positive feedback and we hope you received a lot of inspiration from Ambassador Yvette Stevens' exceptional journey. Further to several requests, we have included extra resources on Yvette Stevens and the organizers of the event. Additional Resources:
